** beauty and the bulls**t

Hey everyone, hope you've all had a spiffy weekend!
Just a quick post to share this blog with you that I just came across. Some of you may have already seen it, but it made me laugh and is a very refreshing read.

Its called "Beauty and the Bullshit" and her name is Rowena. Armed with her vast insider knowledge and a drier than dry sense of humour, Rowena aims to dispell the bullsh*t promises and claims the beauty industry makes.

Take a look here

** oops, I went shopping.....

Me + Shopping by myself = Lots of things bought!

I am lethal when I go shopping by myself, which may be a bit weird as normally people say they buy more things when they go shopping with other people because they encourage them to buy.

So anyhoo.....In this first photo is this really cute little dress and necklace from Miss Selfridge (although I probably wont wear them together, cutesy overload!?) The dress was process at £39, but had a £20 off sticker on the hanger AND I got 10% NUS discount off, so it was £17.10!? Can you believe it, I think if it was marked as half price or 50% off, more people would have been buying it, I just found it in the corner actually on my way out of the shop!
The necklace was in the sale and marked at £3.

Dress and necklace both Miss Selfridge

Next was H&M, which I am loving at the moment! I got the bunny t-shirt because Big Old Bean had pointed it out to me and said he liked it, so that was the only reason why I bought it really! The black T-shirt is just a plain over sized T shirt to go with this great little skirt I found, I think it must be new in because I hadn't seen it last time I was in there, and they had it in red and white too.
T-shirts £7.99 (bunny) £4.99 (black) and skirt £14.99 all from H&M

I also picked up this L'oreal Lipgloss from Boots, it was on offer for £4.99 instead of £6.99, and thought it looked great on the advert with Cheryl Cole. I was going to get the colour she wears, but wanted something more pink so I went for this one instead, Sheer Pitaya (is Pitaya a fruit? I must investigate!?)
I love this gloss and would definitely buy more as I am seriously lacking in glittering lip glosses! The great thing about this is that you can layer it for a brighter more vibrant look.

So a pitaya, also known as a dragon fruit! Pretty good colour match I recon! Yummy!

** new benefit bella bamba

So word on the beauty street is that Benefit will be bringing out this new boxed face powder early next year.

Its called Bella Bamba and is being described as a 3D face powder/blusher that can be applied to the cheeks as well as all over your face.
I cant wait to see this in real life, and as the name suggests Im thinking it will be very shimmery and 3 dimensional!
It will be priced at £23.50 like their other boxed powders and the lid contains a little mirror.

Do you think you will be picking up this new product? What are your feeling on other Benefit blush boxes?

** NOTD orly naughty

Love the name if this colour! Naughty! Hehe! This is the only Orly colour I have, I love the longer style brushes of Orly polishes, and I'm really lusting over the Cosmic FX range they have brought out (Out of This World and Galaxy Girl are on my wish list!)

I love dark colours, I just wished they lasted a bit longer before chipping!

What top coats do you use to stop yours from chipping so fast? Have you tried any of the Cosmic FX colours?

** halloween weekend

Hi Everyone! I know, this post is a little late, but I was a tad hungover on Sunday, and was at uni yesterday, so here is my Halloween post!I have really enjoyed reading all the posts on Halloween, and seeing peoples outfits!

I went out in Liverpool on Saturday night, and I didn't go out in fancy dress (even though my Big Old Bean did think my leopard print jumpsuit was hilarious and could have easily been a costume!)

It was our 4 year anniversary on Sunday since our first date (yes it was on Halloween!) and we just stayed in and I unleashed my face painting skills on myself, him and my little brother! I think Halloween is definitely my favourite holiday, I just love all the dressing up and spooky things! I'm also really enjoying watching Strictly Come Dancing! The Halloween one was great! Im also really hating on Katie Waissel off X factor, I just cant take to her, she seems so false and fake, cant wait to see her go, so I hope its next week!

Here's a few photos of our painted faces!

Did you all have a fun Halloween weekend? Whats your favourite holiday of the year?

** elf haul

Hi everyone!

Just thought I'd share some photos and thoughts on the stuff I ordered from elf last week.

(Clockwise)
Studio Warm Bronzer
Studio Blush - Pink Passion

Nail Polish - Innocent
All Over Colour Stick - Pink Lemonade

Studio Blush Brush
(I put a 50p in to show the size of the brushes!)

L to R:
Studio Eyeshadow C Brush
Studio Small Precision Brush
Studio Small Smudge Brush

I think my favourite things have to be the brushes!

Blush Brush: This is the perfect size for me, really good for contouring blush as it is quite flat and you can really get under/on your cheekbone depending on the look you want to achieve. Very soft too!

Eyeshadow C Brush: Great for working and blending colours in, love this brush!

Small Precision Brush: Fantastic for applying shadow when you want "precision" e.g. in the socket line, or outer corners.

Small Smudge Brush: I have been using this with my Bobbi Brown Gel Liner, and it works pretty well, not at all scratchy.

As for the cosmetics....

Studio Blush Pink Passion: I love this colour, it pretty much applies as it looks in the pan! You could achieve a subtle look, but you really would have to pick up a very small on your brush to achieve this. I love bright blush anyway, but if you prefer the more natural look, I wouldn't recommend this particular colour. The texture is OK, not too amazingly soft, feels a little chalky, but for £3.50 I cant really complain!
Here is a piccie of what the blush looks like on when I went out in Liverpool on Saturday. (Sorry for the weird expression, I don't know what I was doing!?)

What do you guys think?

Nail Polish Innocent: I had to apply about 3-4 coats to get a good solid colour, it applies very streaky and quite wishy washy, I would describe this as a dirty nude, and wouldn't particularly recommend, or try any of the other colours. (Plus the bottle had leaked and I had to run under hot tap for ages to get it off!!)

I haven't had chance to use the bronzer yet, as I'm trying to use up the Rimmel one I have, so I will probably post on this in the future. I also haven't had much chance to use the colour stick either, although it smells fab!! Its not that soft or easy to apply, but I will keep trying with it.

Have you ever bought anything from elf? What are your faves and maybe not so faves? Would love to hear what you guys have tried!

** review: soap and glory clean mary cleansing milk

Last Christmas I got this cleanser as part of the Soap and Glory Hat Box.
Its described this as....
"A luxury complexion purifier, fit for a Clean! Made in Switzerland then imported over, Clean Mary dissolves deep down dirt, purifies your pores and smoothes away dead skin cells, leaving your face fresh, bright and fabulously clean."

Well, I'm sorry to say that I just don't like this stuff, at all.

So why don't I like it?
OK, I know its described as "milk", but this isn't actually far from the consistency of actual milk, its so runny and sloppy, that it comes out of the tube way too fast. I even started to wonder to whether this was a bad batch or something?!?
Once applied to my skin, it just slips around its so thin and I don't feel I can work it into my skin because of this. It definitely does not feel luxurious!
I also found that it slightly stings my lips, I'm not sure whats in it that makes this happen, but it sure isn't pleasant!
I also like to be able to remove my eye make up and cleanse my skin in one step, so this also adds to the 'thumbs downiness" of this particular cleanser.
After use, my skin doesn't feel as clean as I believe it ought to, and I was really disappointed with the quality of this stuff.

I have to say that I do like most of the Soap and Glory range, but just not this particular product. So, sorry Mary but you get a total thumbs down from me, mainly because of the consistency, I just don't feel like its cleaning my skin because its so thin.
I couldn't actually believe it when I saw that this has 5 out of 5 stars on the boots website, as I just think its absolute pants!

Have you tired Clean Mary cleansing milk, if so what did you think of it? Whats your favourite cleanser?

** opi lucerne-tainly look marvelous **uni poop

 Hello All!

So as I said in an earlier post, I bought OPI Lucerne-tainly look marvelous which is from their current Swiss range. Here are some little piccies.
I would describe the colour as silver with a hint of petrol blue, which I love! I'm still after a pure slate grey varnish, if anyone can recommend one?

Have any of you guys tried any of the colours from the Swiss Range? What colours are you loving at the moment?

***************

I'm so bogged down with uni work at the moment, its really getting me down. I'm trying to stay positive, but I really don't enjoy it, I'm in my second year now, and just cant wait for it to be over. I get distracted so easily, and end up spending most of my time reading blogs instead of getting on with my work! I really need to stop sulking and just get on with it though, and once I have a few assignments out the way, I hope to start to feel better!

Are any of you feeling like this at the moment? Do you have any tips of how to concentrate on studying?

** faux fur or faux pas?

Hi dweebs!
I went down to my local TK Maxx on Sunday, and went a tiny bit faux fur mental. I bought a faux fur coat from eBay last winter, and although I liked it, it was vintage and a little bit, as my mum says, "chewed", do you know what I mean??

I headed straight for the coat section, and left big old bean to wander off looking at the gadgets, and I came across these two beauties!!!

 £59.99

£49.99

I really couldn't decide which one to get, so I got both. So being called Pat Butcher by my smallest brother shall continue for at least a few years to come, but hey, I don't care because I love throwing on a pimp coat, they are so warm and cosy! I just love winter coats, and I was hoping to get one that resembles a sleeping bag with a ginormous hood, but the hunt for that continues, maybe I could get one like this..do you think I could pull it off?? :D

What do you think about faux fur coats?  Will you be investing this winter? Do you have a super warm cosy coat?

** going lipstick gaga

Hello all, thought I'd do a little post on my MAC Viva Glam GaGa lipstick that I got a few months back now. I know an absolute tonne of people must have reviewed/posted on this before, but I thought one more couldn't hurt! I die for the colour, its described as a light blue pink (lustre). The only thing I would say I don't like is the signature MAC lipstick vanilla fragrance it has (yuck!) but I'm more than willing to put up with this because of the great colour!

MAC have now also released a matching GaGa gloss and  GaGa bag to go with the lipstick, and again all proceeds go to MAC aids fund. I might just be having to purchase that gloss....
